Grace Alone

August 31, 2008

” For it is by grace you have been saved,

through faith –

and this not from yourselves,

it is the gift of God –

not by works,

so that no one can boast.

For we are God’s workmanship,

created in Christ Jesus to do good works,

which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:8-10

GREAT IS THE LORD IN ALL THE EARTH!

Connie Talbot was 6 years old when she sung this song on “Britain’s Got Talent”.   God has amazingly blessed Connie with a remarkable voice.  She’s been singing since she was 2 years old and has never had any voice lessons.  God has gifted Connie with her talent and desire to sing.

May God be glorified!

In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.”

Heaven

We will praise God in Heaven!
We will praise God in Heaven!

Heaven… we want to know more…. we want to know that those we love who’ve passed on are there…. we want to know that we will also be there….

What do we know about Heaven?     The Bible teaches us that Heaven is glorious… God is in Heaven…. Jesus is in Heaven…. angels are in Heaven… There are streets paved with gold in Heaven…. and if there are streets, there must be some sort of travel on which to use those streets… life will be different, yet the same….. God’s so good!  Can’t wait to see what He has for me…

There is worship in Heaven…. worship of Jesus, our King of Kings and Lord of Lords….

There will not be sorrow… or tears… or pain… or death… or dying… or suffering… or sin…

There will be light… Great Light…. Jesus is the Light… in Him there is no darkness at all…  Jesus’ Light will radiate everywhere…. There won’t even be any shadows… That is hard to imagine… but true… because shadows reveal darkness… somewhere the light is not reaching… and since Jesus is everywhere…. there won’t be any shadows…

There will be people in Heaven… people who will know us…. and we will know them…. happy, rejoicing, loving,  family….

We will have new bodies…. and new mansions to live in… Life as we know it here on earth will not compare to what God has for us in Heaven….  we will be in the presence of God for all eternity…

We experience God’s love… through Christ here on earth….  and when we experience the presence of God and are touched by His loving grace… we know that somehow that is a small taste of what it will be like in Heaven… to be with God… in His presence…. to see Him… to be touched and changed by Him….

We will see Him as He is in all His glory…. we will hold Him and touch His face… we love Him ….and honor Him …..and praise Him…..and give Him glory….. for all eternity….. Heaven!

How Great is our God – John 3:16

August 12, 2008

Jesus’ words for those who love and follow Him:

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.”    John 15:13-14

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another;  as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”      John 13:34-35

“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.  And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”  John 14:21

Jesus said, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and the great commandment.  And the second is like it:  You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”  Matthew 22:37-40

Chris ‘Topher’ David Laurie ~ Born on April 1, 1975 ~ Home with Jesus on July 24, 2008

“Christopher Laurie, son of Pastor Greg Laurie and Cathe Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., passed away on July 24, 2008 in a car accident. A resident of Huntington Beach, Laurie, 33, served as the art director at Harvest Christian Fellowship for the past three years.

In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by his wife, Brittany, and daughter, Stella, as well as his brother Jonathan. Christopher and his wife are expecting another daughter in November.”

Today, 46,300 people have viewed Pastor Greg’s UTube message 3 days after Chris went home to be with Jesus and 20,477 comments have been posted to Pastor Greg’s Blog of people sharing their heart felt prayers and love with the family.  Today Chris’ memorial was heard on KWVE (107.9 FM) in Southern California at 11 a.m.

Chris’ younger brother Jonathan stood up after his dad spoke and shared with the congregation that he knew his brother would want others to come to know Christ through his death, and many did step forward to receive Christ for the first time.

~ KEEPING A LIGHT TOUCH IN THIS WORLD WITH OUR EYES UPON JESUS ~                       ~ ‘CAUSE WE’RE JUST PASSING THROUGH ~

Through Chris Laurie’s passing, God has reminded us to make the most of every opportunity to share His love with others and to keep a light touch in this world.

This world is not our home, we’ll all be going home, some sooner than others.  Our home is with Christ our Savior in Heaven, where we’ll all be rejoicing around the throne of God, praising and worshiping our Lord and King for all eternity.

We’re keeping our eyes upon Jesus and desiring to walk closely with Him according to His will for our lives.  What wonderful opportunities God gives us each day to hear His voice, to follow Him, to love Him, to praise and worship Him, to know Him and to make Him known through the power and leading of His Holy Spirit.

For those we love who’ve gone before us ~ we’re looking forward to being with you in Heaven for all eternity worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ ~  How glorious that will be!  Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
